Big Day For Bio-Winners (GNOM, PACB, REGN, SRLS)

Monday is a strange day for the movers and shakers, but the biotech and biohealth space has four clear winners today: Complete Genomics Inc. (NASDAQ: GNOM); Pacific Biosciences of California, Inc. (NASDAQ: PACB); Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: REGN); and SeraCare Life Sciences Inc. (NASDAQ: SRLS).

Complete Genomics Inc. (NASDAQ: GNOM) has been selected by Mayo Clinic’s Center for Individualized Medicine to provide outsourced whole human genome sequencing and researchers will now be able to employ this sequencing service for some of its large-scale whole genome sequencing projects.  Shares are up a sharp 34% at $4.42 against a 52-week range of $2.21 to $18.55.

Pacific Biosciences of California, Inc. (NASDAQ: PACB) has released an upgrade to its PacBio® RS system, referred to as “C2” (with new chemistry, enhanced SMRT Cells and upgraded software) to provide customers with significant performance increases for DNA sequencing. The company and numerous customers will discuss their progress in presentations and posters at the 2012 Advances in Genome Biology & Technology meeting this week.  Shares are up 17% at $5.22 against a 52-week range of $2.25 to $16.38.

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: REGN) is surging on news that its eye drug called Eylea which treats a an eye disorder causing blindness may now have sales of $250 million to $300 million in 2012 rather than its prior $160 million outlook on sales.  Shares are up over 13% and up over the $115.00 mark.

SeraCare Life Sciences Inc. (NASDAQ: SRLS) may be more on the supply side but its shares are up 9.5% at $3.92 after the announcement that it is agreeing to a go-private buyout in an $81 million deal with Linden Capital that values the stock at $4.00 per share.
