The 52-Week Low Club for Thursday

August 28, 2014: Among the nearly 30 stocks making new 52-week lows today were the following four firms:

Liberty Ventures (NASDAQ: LVNTA) which dropped about 50% on Thursday following the distribution of a special dividend to shareholders after spinning off its controlling interest in TripAdvisor Inc. (NASDAQ: TRIP). The post spin-off low is now $37.04. Share volume is about 8-times the daily average of around 276,000. The stock’s pre-spin-off 52-week high was $75.95.

Guess? Inc. (NYSE: GES) dropped about 9.3% today to post a new 52-week low of $23.24 compared with the stock’s 52-week high of $34.94. The apparel maker and retail store operator posted disappointing second-quarter results after markets closed Wednesday afternoon. Volume is nearly 6-times the daily average of around 890,000 shares traded.

Sungy Mobile Ltd. (NASDAQ: GOMO) dropped about 23% today to post a new 52-week low of $8.00. Volume is about 6-times the daily average of around 220,000 shares. The Chinese mobile products and services firm missed quarterly estimates last night and the stock was downgraded to Hold at Oppenheimer.  The company’s 52-week high is $33.87.

Noodles & Co. (NASDAQ: NDLS) dropped nearly 2% to post its new 52-week low of $19.37. The stock traded about 30% lower than average daily volume of around 370,000 and the 52-week high is $49.75. The company had no news today.
