December 9, 2014: Here are four stocks among the 288 equities making new 52-week lows today.

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (NYSE: AMD) dropped about 3.5% Tuesday to post a new 52-week low of $2.49. The stock’s 52-week high is $4.80. Volume is about equal to the daily average of around 20 million shares. The tech sector was among the better performers on Tuesday, but AMD was not among the tech stocks that posted a gain.

Chevron Corp. (NYSE: CVX) posted a drop of about 0.6% today to establish a new 52-week low of $106.19 against a high of $135.10. Volume is about equal to the daily average of around 7.8 million shares. Chevron was among Monday’s worst performing DJIA stocks, and although it posted a new low today, the stock was on its way to closing with a gain of around 0.3%.

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. (NYSE: FCX) dropped about 3% on Tuesday to post a new 52-week low of $24.38 after closing at $25.13 on Monday. The stock’s 52-week high is $39.32. Share volume is 50% higher than the 12.3 million daily average shares traded. The copper and gold miner had no news today, but last week a reported settlement of $100 million in a shareholder suit placed a weight on the stock and there it will remain until a settlement is announced.

Sprint Corp. (NYSE: S) posted a new 52-week low on Tuesday of $4.53. Based on Monday night’s closing price of $4.75 that’s a drop of about 4.6%. The stock’s 52-week high is $11.47. Both Verizon and AT&T said Tuesday that profits would be hampered in the current quarter as a result of price competition. Because Sprint is one of the competitors leading prices down the slope investors must have figured that the company wouldn’t escape the lower profits either.
