The 52-Week Low Club for Friday

June 5, 2015: Here are four stocks among the 107 equities making new 52-week lows today.

Chesapeake Energy Corp. (NYSE: CHK) dropped about 1.2% on Friday to post a new 52-week low of $12.89 after closing at $13.04 on Thursday. The stock’s 52-week high is $29.92. Share volume totaled about 23 million shares, in line with the daily average. The company had no specific news today, but natural gas prices continued to slide today and that’s not good news for Chesapeake.

Windstream Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: WIN) dropped about 7.4% on Friday to post a new 52-week low of $7.15 after closing at $7.72 on Thursday. The stock’s 52-week high is $20.84. Share volume totaled around 9 million, above the daily average of around 8.6 million shares traded. The company had no specific news again today, but investors may continue to be worried about the company’s lush dividend payment.

Ceasars Entertainment Corp. (NASDAQ: CZR) posted a new 52-week low on Friday. Shares dropped nearly 17% to $5.95 from Thursday’s closing price of $7.16. The stock’s 52-week high is $18.91. Volume totaled about 7 million shares, well above the daily average of around 1 million shares. The casino and resort operator has run into some opposition to restructuring its operating company.

Zumiez Inc. (NASDAQ: ZUMZ) dropped about 20% on Friday to post a new 52-week low of $23.82 against a 52-week high of $41.81. The stock closed at $29.74 on Thursday night. Volume reached about more than 4 million shares, about 14-times higher than the daily average of around 300,000 shares. The company’s second-quarter guidance absolutely sank shares today.
