Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE: XOM) posted a new 52-week low on Friday. Shares dropped about 4.9% to a low of $78.93 from Thursday’s closing price of $83.01. The stock’s 52-week high is $100.43. Volume totaled nearly 20 million shares, about double the daily average of around 11 million. The company’s earnings report was even worse than expected this morning.
Twitter Inc. (NYSE: TWTR) dropped about 2% on Friday to post a new 52-week low of $30.85 after closing at $31.47 on Thursday. The stock’s 52-week high is $55.99. Share volume totaled around 15 million shares, about 30% below the daily average of nearly 22 million. The company continues to stagger following a weak earnings report earlier this week.
Chevron Corp. (NYSE: CVX) dropped about 5.4% on Friday to post a new 52-week low at $88.01 after closing at $93.03 on Thursday. The stock’s 52-week high is $129.53. Share volume totaled about 15 million, about double the daily average of about 7.5 million. Chevron also turned in a weak second-quarter report this morning.
Linn Energy LLC (NASDAQ: LINE) dropped about 16% on Friday to post a new 52-week low of $4.00 against a 52-week high of $31.80. The stock closed at $4.76 on Thursday night. Volume totaled about 13 million shares, nearly four times the daily average of around 3.5 million shares traded. The company also dropped 28% on Thursday. There’s nothing like suspending distributions to shareholders to splatter a stock’s share price.
