Share volume totaled more than 33 million, more than 3 times the daily average of around 9 million. The company missed estimates and cut its forecast.
Alcoa Inc. (NYSE: AA) dropped more than 5% on Friday to set a new 52-week low of $9.40 after closing at $9.91 on Thursday. The stock’s 52-week high is $17.75. Share volume totaled around 5 million shares, about a third higher than the daily average of around 20 million. The company had no specific news today.
Freeport-McMoRan Inc. (NYSE: FCX) posted a new 52-week low on Friday. Shares dropped about 6.2% to a low of $10.52 from Thursday’s closing price of $11.21. The stock’s 52-week high is $37.10. Volume was slightly above the daily average of around 21 million. Weak commodity gold and copper prices continue to chip away the company’s share price.
Twitter Inc. (NYSE: TWTR) dropped about 2.4% on Friday to post a new 52-week low of $26.87 against a 52-week high of $55.99. The stock closed at $27.54 on Thursday night. Volume fell about 30% below the daily average of around 21 million shares traded. The company took some shots from analysts today for a lackluster showing during Thursday night’s Republican presidential debate.
