The 52-Week Low Club for Monday

May 23, 2016: Only 17 stocks posted new 52-week lows today and only one of those traded more than 1 million shares. NYSE advancers led decliners by less than 5 to 4 while Nasdaq advancers led decliners by about the same margin.

Vipshop Holdings Ltd. (NYSE: VIPS) posted a new 52-week low on Monday. Shares traded at a low of $10.21, down about 2.7%, after closing at $10.49 on Friday. The stock’s 52-week high is $26.95. Volume was less than half the daily average of around 8.9 million shares. The Chinese online discount retailer posted results last week that met analysts’ expectations but not investors’ hopes. Shares have been struggling ever since.

The second most heavily traded losing stock today was SunOpta Inc. (NASDAQ: STKL) which posted a new 52-week low of $3.47, down 7.5%, after closing at $3.75 on Friday. The stock’s 52-week high is $11.39. Volume nearly doubled to 720,000 share traded. The company had no news Monday.

MobilIron Inc. (NASDAQ: MOBL) posted a new 52-week low of $2.78 after dropping $0.20 from Friday’s closing price. The stock’s 52-week high is $7.10 and today’s volume was more than double the daily average of 570,000 shares traded. MobilIron had no specific news.
