The 52-Week Low Club for Monday

June 13, 2016: Here are four stocks trading with relatively heavy volume among 65 equities making new 52-week lows in Monday’s session. NYSE decliners led advancers by nearly 3 to 1 while Nasdaq decliners led advancers by a similar margin.

JD.com Inc. (NASDAQ: JD) dropped by about 1.2% on Monday to post a new 52-week low at $20.80 after closing at $21.06 on Friday. The stock’s 52-week high is $37.82. Daily volume totaled around 7.8 million shares, just over half the average of around 14.8 million shares. The Chinese internet provider had no specific news on Monday.

Valero Energy Corp. (NYSE: VLO) dropped about 4.5% on Monday to post a new 52-week low of $51.03 against a 52-week high of $73.88. The stock closed at $53.43 on Friday night. The oil refiner had no specific news either.

Credit Suisse Group AG (NYSE: CS) posted a new 52-week low on Monday. Shares traded at a low of $12.05, down about 3%, after closing at $12.43 on Friday. The stock’s 52-week high is $29.99. Volume was more about 50% above the daily average of around 3.3 million shares. According to optionMonster, short-term put options buying hit the bank’s stock on Friday and again Monday.

HollyFrontier Corp. (NYSE: HFC) fell by about 7.3% on Monday to post a new 52-week low of $25.06 against a high of $54.73. The stock closed at $27.03 on Friday night. Volume reached about 4.2 million shares, around 15% above the stock’s daily average of around 2.8 million. Another oil refiner posting a new 52-week low Monday on no news.
