July 11,2016: Here are three stocks trading with relatively heavy volume among just 9 equities making new 52-week lows in Monday’s session. The three stocks we’re looking at are the only stocks to set new lows and trade more than 1 million shares.
NYSE advancers and decliners by more than 2 to 1 while Nasdaq advancers led decliners by about the same margin.
Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) fell by about 3.7% on Monday to post a new 52-week low of $152.34 against a high of $192.49. The stock closed at $158.15 on Friday night. Volume reached around 4.8 million shares, about 3.5 times above the stock’s daily average of around 1.7 million. Questions arose late Monday regarding federal regulators’ attitude related to Humana’s takeover by Aetna.
Fibria Celulose SA (NYSE: FBR) dropped about 1.1% on Monday to post a new 52-week low of $6.41 against a 52-week high of $14.94. Shares closed at $6.48 on Friday night. Volume is about equal to the daily average of around 1.6 million. The Brazil-based supplier of wood pulp had no specific news Monday, and closed the day up about 1.9% after a slow start.
CVR Refining LP (NYSE: CVRR) dropped about 4% on Monday to post a new 52-week low of $6.53 against a 52-week high of $22.74. Volume was about double the daily average of around 600,000. The stock closed at $6.80 on Friday night. The oil refiner had no specific news either on Monday.
