Southern Company, Colony NorthStar Fall into Friday’s 52-Week Low Club

Southern Company, Colony NorthStar, Axovant Sciences, and Kimco Realty all posted new 52-week lows Friday.

January 12, 2018: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 45 equities making new 52-week lows in Friday’s session. On the NYSE advancers led decliners by about 8 to 7 and on the Nasdaq, advancers led decliners by nearly 3 to 2.

The Southern Co. (NYSE: SO) traded down about 1.7% Friday and posted a new 52-week low of $44.46 after closing Thursday at $45.25. The 52-week high is $53.51. Volume was over 6 million, about 20% above the daily average of around 4.8 million shares. The company was dropped from Neutral to Sell at Goldman Sachs on Thursday.

Colony NorthStar Inc. (NYSE: CLNS) dropped about 3.1% Friday to post a 52-week low of $10.36 after closing at $10.69 on Thursday. The 52-week high is $14.92. Volume was around 6.1million, more than double the daily average. The company had no specific news.

Axovant Sciences Ltd. (NASDAQ: AXON) dropped more than 9% Friday to post a new 52-week low of $2.06 after closing at $2.27 on Thursday. The stock’s 52-week high is $27.98. Volume was around 4.2 million, nearly triple the daily average of around 1.5 million. The company had no specific news but continues to sink on a failed late-stage trial of its Alzheimer disease drug.

Kimco Realty Corp. (NYSE: KIM) fell about 2.6% to post a new 52-week low of $16.68 Friday after closing at $17.13 on Thursday. The 52-week high is $25.70. Volume of about 4 million was roughly equal to the daily average of around 3.9 million. The shopping center REIT had no specific news Friday.
