April 12, 2018: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 42 equities making new 52-week lows in Thursday’s session. On the NYSE advancers led decliners by less than 8 to 7 and on the Nasdaq, advancers led decliners by about nearly 2 to 1.
Bed, Bath & Beyond Inc. (NASDAQ: BBBY) traded down nearly 20% Thursday to post a new 52-week low of $17.26 after closing Wednesday at $21.50. The stock’s 52-week high is $40.33. Volume was nearly 10 times the daily average of around 3.3 million shares. The company slumped on a weak earnings report.
Mallinckrodt plc (NYSE: MNK) fell by more than 10% Thursday to post a new 52-week low of $13.32 after closing at $14.90 on Wednesday. The 52-week high is $49.12. Volume of about 7.6 million was about double the daily average. The company has been hit with a whistleblower lawsuit related to its best-selling drug.
New Gold Inc. (NYSEAMERICAN: NGD) dropped about 3.8% Thursday to post a new 52-week low of $2.28. Shares closed at $2.37 on Wednesday and the stock’s 52-week high is $4.25. Volume was about 15% below the daily average of around 5.9 million shares. The company had no specific news.
Dominion Energy Inc. (NYSE: D) traded down about 1.5% Thursday and posted a new 52-week low of $63.91 after closing Wednesday at $64.88. The stock’s 52-week high is $85.30. Volume totaled around 3 million, about a 40% below the daily average. The company had no specific news.
