Shares of Kopin (NASDAQ:KOPN) are surging 28.38% at midday Tuesday, one of the sharpest single-session moves the microdisplay maker has posted all year. The rally lifts the stock well above its $4.35 50-day moving average and stretches its 79.91% year-to-date advance even further into the green.

Earnings Report and Fabric.AI Deal Fuel the Rally

The catalyst is Kopin’s latest quarterly update, which paired a revenue beat with a transformational partnership announcement. Revenue landed at $10.60 million, topping the $10.19 million consensus by 4.03%. Non-product revenue surged 292% year over year on a large MicroLED development award, while product revenue slid 41% as thermal weapon sight shipments slowed. Cash climbed to $34.10 million, up 122% year over year, providing runway through at least the end of Q2 2027.

The key drivers behind Kopin’s surge today

The bigger story is the strategic collaboration with Fabric.AI. Kopin secured a $15 million initial development order and a 19.9% equity stake in the AI infrastructure firm. The partnership targets replacing copper wiring between GPUs in AI data centers using Kopin’s MicroLED-based Neural I/o optical interconnect technology. CEO Michael Murray called it “a transformational milestone that extends Kopin’s MicroLED and bi-directional NeuralDisplay capabilities into one of the fastest-growing segments of the technology market.”

Kopin also disclosed a $21.50 million follow-on thermal imaging production contract, a $3.20 million initial Sentinel FPV order with delivery potential of up to 40,000 goggles by year-end 2028, and $5.60 million in European helmet-mounted display orders. Management reiterated FY2026 revenue guidance of $52 million to $60 million. Details are available in the company’s 8-K filing.

Analyst coverage backs the enthusiasm. Wall Street’s average price target sits at $7.62, with six Buy ratings and no Holds or Sells on the sheet. A beta of 3.55 underscores how sensitive this name is to catalysts on both sides. Valuation remains stretched, with GuruFocus flagging the stock as 308.7% overvalued on its GF Value model. Today’s story is about narrative and pipeline, with current earnings power still catching up.

Peers Trade Higher on Sector Tailwinds

The move is spilling into adjacent microdisplay, AR, and defense names. Vuzix (NASDAQ:VUZI) is up 2.49% ahead of its own Q2 report Thursday, though the AR peer has lagged badly with a 30.95% year-to-date decline. Himax Technologies (NASDAQ:HIMX) is up 1.90%, extending a run that included Q2 revenue of $227.37 million and expanding traction in co-packaged optics for AI data centers, a direct analog to Kopin’s Fabric.AI thesis.

Universal Display (NASDAQ:OLED | OLED Price Prediction) is trading 2.21% higher, while AeroVironment (NASDAQ:AVAV) is up 1.58%, riding momentum from a $400 million U.S. Army counter-drone laser contract announced last week. The read-across matters. Kopin’s Sentinel FPV entry places it in the counter-UAS and drone optics adjacency where AeroVironment is the dominant name.
