Pre-Market Stock Futures:

Futures are mixed this Friday morning, with the Dow Jones trading lower, but Nasdaq futures are higher as AI stocks catch a bid after the big post-election rally turned into a massive post-election sell-off. Concerns over Artificial Intelligence and Data Center spending drove the selling, and stocks that were already overbought heading into third-quarter earnings, and even more so after they finished up, headed south in a big way. Yesterday’s sell-off wiped out Wednesday’s huge rally, and it makes sense for investors who raised cash, as we suggested in the summer and early fall, to start sniffing around for technology bargains.

All of the major indices finished lower Thursday, with the Nasdaq leading the way down and closing once again in correction territory at 24,314, down a stunning 5.52%, while the small-cap Russell 2000 wasn’t far behind, ending the session at 2,729, down 4.45%. The S&P 500 took part in the rout, closing at 7,353, down 4.36%, and the Dow Jones Industrial finished as the best of the worst, down 3.44% to 51,523. Despite positive economic news, concerns over Democrats controlling Congress were a big reason for Thursday’s stock meltdown. Today, traders will watch the October non-farm payroll numbers, and next week inflation data from the consumer and producer price indices will hit the tape.
