To amass a million dollars in Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH), you would need about 396 ETH based on the current price of around $2,528 (as of October 11, 2026). This number answers how much Ethereum you need today, but we must go further to understand the cost of acquiring it.

While owning a specific amount of Ethereum gives you a financial target, you must also consider how much each stack costs. Though accumulating fewer coins may seem easier, you still have to buy them at current prices, not future ones.

So, how much Ethereum do you need to become a millionaire by 2030, and what would that stack cost at today’s price?

At the current price of $2,528, you would need approximately 396 ETH to reach the million-dollar mark. However, if Ethereum’s price rises to $5,000, you’d need only 200 ETH, and at $10,000, that number drops to 100 ETH.

To illustrate:

Price Used ETH Needed for $1 Million Cost of That Stack at $2,528
Current price, $2,528 About 396 ETH About $1 million
Assumed price, $5,000 200 ETH About $506,000
Assumed price, $10,000 100 ETH About $253,000

The key takeaway is that the amount of Ethereum you need depends directly on its price. A higher price means you need fewer coins.

Understanding Ethereum’s price history helps put these figures in context. Currently, the coin trades about 49% below its August 2025 peak of $4,946. To reach that peak, it would need to rise nearly 96%.

Even the lower $5,000 example exceeds its previous high, meaning Ethereum must recover from recent losses and reach new highs to hit that price. The $10,000 figure doubles the previous record.

At the current price of $2,528, the 200 ETH stack tied to a $5,000 Ethereum price costs about $506,000. In contrast, the 100 ETH stack tied to a $10,000 price costs around $253,000 today. Thus, to reach that million-dollar goal, you should consider investing a significant amount upfront—between $253,000 and $506,000.

Most investors won’t make such a large purchase all at once. Instead, many use dollar-cost averaging, investing a set amount regularly over time. This strategy spreads purchases over time and can result in a different average price, which can affect the total stack size.

So How Much Ethereum Do You Need to Be a Millionaire by 2030?

In summary, to hold a million dollars in Ethereum today, you’d need about 396 ETH at a price of $2,528. If Ethereum reaches $5,000 by 2030, you’d need only 200 ETH; if it climbs to $10,000, you’d need 100 ETH. However, buying these smaller stacks at today’s prices could cost you between $253,000 and $506,000.

Until Ethereum surpasses its previous high of $4,946, the $5,000 price remains untested territory. The journey toward millionaire status involves both uncertainty and opportunity, as the price can fluctuate significantly between now and 2030.
