Exxon Mobil, the Irving, Texas-based energy giant, ranks as the best company to work for in the Lone Star State. According to Zippia data, the average Exxon employee earns over $43,000 a year, more than the average pay at several competing companies, including Valero and Chevron. Exxon Mobil also receives high marks for the diversity of its workforce.

Zippia gave the company a perfect 10/10 score for salaries, as the average worker earns nearly $81,000 a year, much more than at many competitors. Of over 400 reviews on job review site Glassdoor, 89% of CHG Healthcare employees said they would recommend working for the company to a friend, and 95% approve of how CEO Scott Beck is running the company. Many said they appreciate that the company puts people first, as a core value.
