McKinsey & Company ranks as the fifth best company to work for. The consulting company helps business clients improve the performance of their business. McKinsey is headquartered in New York City, though it has over 100 offices worldwide. It also ranks as one of the oldest companies on this list, having been founded in 1926.

In Glassdoor reviews, McKinsey employees say they largely like the people they work with. The firm’s previous leader Kevin Sneader had an approval rating of 95%, making him one of the best reviewed chief executives among American businesses — by employees. Sneader was ousted by the partners over some controversies, and the current leader is Global Managing Partner Bob Sternfeld.

4. HubSpot

HubSpot is a customer relationship management platform that provides software, sales, website management and tech support to businesses. It ranks as the fourth best place to work, according to its employees.

HubSpot employees rave about the work-life balance in Glassdoor reviews, touting the company’s unlimited paid time off policy, and saying that they were encouraged to take vacations. CEO Brian Haligan has a 99% approval rating and ranks among the top CEOs on Glassdoor.

3. In-N-Out Burger

West Coast favorite In-N-Out Burger has been serving burgers and fries since 1948. It is the only restaurant to rank among the best places to work, and it has ranked as one of the 10 best companies to work for each year since 2015.

Hundreds of Glassdoor reviews about In-N-Out laud the company for its relatively high pay for hourly workers — well above its competitors in the fast food space. It also offers some employees benefits like 401K matches and health care benefits. The vast majority of workers say they like CEO Lynsi Snyder and would recommend working at In-N-Out to a friend.

2. NVIDIA

Nvidia is a computer hardware and software company headquartered in Santa Clara, California. The company creates a wide array of tech products like AI, robotics, health care, and more. According to Glassdoor reviews, 97% of Nvidia workers past and present would recommend working at the company to a friend, and 98% approve of CEO Jensen Huang — both among the highest percentages of any company.

Nvidia’s workers say they appreciate being able to work on cutting edge technology, and that the company allows them to have a good work-life balance.

Bain & Company ranks as the best company to work for, according to Glassdoor reviews. It is the only company to achieve a 4.6 rating in 2021 — and it has ranked among the five best places to work each year for over a decade. CEO Manny Maceda has a 98% approval rating.

Bain & Company is a consulting firm, located in Boston. Many reviewers praise the company culture and say they appreciate the opportunities for professional development. Bain & Company employees tend to have relatively high salaries, with many positions averaging incomes of well over $100,000.
