Accenture's 22.28% surge to $224.22 at the October 1 open is the kind of move that stops traders cold. Gains of that size at the open are exceedingly rare for a company of Accenture's scale in the IT services space, where even strong quarterly results tend to move a stock only a few percentage points.

The rest of the gainers list is notably tight, with Synopsys, McKesson, IBM and Digital Turbine all up at least 5.9%. That breadth speaks to broad upside pressure across the open.

On the other side of the ledger, Corteva's 82.02% drop to $13.96 is the dominant story for losers. A decline of that magnitude at the open typically signals something structural, such as a dividend cut, a spin-off, or a special distribution that mechanically adjusts the share price. Investors holding Corteva coming into the session are looking at a dramatically different price on their screens.

The European bank names on the losers list, NatWest Group and HSBC, each shed just over 3%, with ArcelorMittal and Air Products and Chemicals down about 3% as well. Those moves are modest by comparison and point to sector-level softness. The Corteva number is in a different category entirely and warrants close attention as the session develops.
