Chips and hardware took the top five slots at Thursday's close, led by ON Semiconductor's 5.52% gain, while every big decliner but one was a cybersecurity name. Zscaler's 9.88% drop to $193.43 was the worst in the group.

ON Semiconductor led the session with a 5.52% advance, and Fabrinet, Dell Technologies, Qualcomm and Super Micro Computer followed, giving the hardware and chip complex a clean sweep of Thursday's five best performers.
ON Semiconductor makes power chips, Fabrinet does optical manufacturing, Dell sells servers, Qualcomm licenses wireless technology, and Super Micro assembles rack systems, yet all five moved in the same direction and at a similar pace by the close on September 25.
Zscaler dropped 9.88% for the steepest decline in the group, with SentinelOne, Rubrik and Palo Alto Networks also lower. Three of those four are pure-play cybersecurity companies, making the sector the clear source of Thursday's selling pressure.
Iren was the lone non-cybersecurity name on the decliners list, falling 4.43% to $44.11. Its presence aside, the session amounted to a rotation that rewarded hardware and penalized software security, a split worth tracking if either trend extends into Friday's session.
