SpaceX has chosen Qualcomm to supply the chips and software running Starlink Mobile's terrestrial 5G network, a multiyear agreement signed before the network launches. Qualcomm's silicon is designed into the architecture of a fourth nationwide U.S. wireless network.

Deployment begins in 2027 across tens of thousands of U.S. cell sites, giving Qualcomm revenue that scales with how aggressively SpaceX builds out the network.

Whoever supplies the foundational chips at the design stage tends to stay there, and switching costs climb once deployment reaches scale.
