Cloudflare reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of $782.5 million, a 39% increase from the same period a year earlier and roughly 6% ahead of the $738.3 million Wall Street had penciled in. Adjusted EPS of $0.38 cleared the $0.34 consensus estimate by nearly 11%, marking the fifth consecutive quarter in which the company topped earnings expectations. CEO Matthew Prince called it Cloudflare's best quarter ever, noting that the result also pushed the company past $3 billion in annualized revenue.

The profitability story inside the quarter is worth attention on its own. Non-GAAP operating income reached $137.1 million, representing a margin of 17.5% of revenue, up from 15.3% a year ago. That expansion came even as research and development spending rose to $168.2 million from $121.0 million in Q3 2025, a sign that management is investing heavily in the AI-powered developer platform it is positioning as the foundation of the next phase of growth, while still finding leverage elsewhere in the cost structure.

On the GAAP side, the picture is messier. The company recorded a net loss of $34.1 million, weighed down by $174.1 million in stock-based compensation along with $11.0 million in restructuring charges tied to a planned shift toward an agentic AI-first operating model and a $10.7 million legal reserve and settlements charge. Free cash flow came in at $82.1 million, though free cash flow margin compressed to roughly 10% from 13% a year earlier as capital expenditures climbed 44% year over year to $121.8 million.

Looking ahead, Cloudflare guided Q4 revenue to approximately $845 million to $846 million and set full-year 2026 revenue expectations near $2.96 billion. Full-year non-GAAP EPS guidance stands at $1.35, with Q4 non-GAAP EPS expected at $0.43. The company also named Christian Smith, the former CRO of Splunk, as President of Revenue to lead its worldwide go-to-market organization through what management described as a next chapter of rapid expansion.

Investors will want to track a few potential friction points alongside the strong headline numbers. The company carried $4.4 billion in convertible senior notes outstanding after raising $2.5 billion in gross proceeds from convertible notes year to date, and total liabilities grew 40% year over year to $6.2 billion. The leadership transition in the revenue organization, restructuring activity, and ongoing macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainty are all variables management flagged explicitly as risks to the trajectory.
