e.l.f. Beauty reported adjusted earnings per share of $1.21 for its fiscal second quarter of 2027, more than doubling the Wall Street consensus estimate of $0.60. That 102% beat reflects genuine operational outperformance across margins, channels, and geographies, and it marks the fourth consecutive quarter in which e.l.f. has topped consensus EPS expectations.
Net sales of $520.8 million exceeded the $473.1 million estimate by 10.1% and rose 51.4% from the same quarter a year earlier, extending the company's streak of consecutive quarterly net sales growth to 31. Strength was broad-based, spanning both retail and e-commerce channels in the U.S. and internationally. The rhode brand, acquired earlier, also outperformed against the revenue thresholds embedded in its earnout agreement, contributing to overall momentum.
Gross margin expanded roughly 160 basis points to 71%, lifted by lower year-over-year tariffs, favorable product mix, and approximately 30 basis points of benefit from IEEPA tariff refunds flowing through cost of sales. That margin level is notable in the beauty sector, and its expansion despite ongoing price investments underscores the efficiency of e.l.f.'s supply chain. The flip side of rhode's earnout outperformance was a $17.7 million charge tied to the fair value of contingent consideration, which pulled GAAP diluted EPS down to $0.50.

Buoyed by the quarter's results, management raised its full-year fiscal 2027 outlook significantly. Adjusted diluted EPS guidance moved to $3.82 to $3.86, up from the prior range of $3.50 to $3.55. Full-year net sales guidance was lifted to $2.00 billion to $2.03 billion, implying year-over-year growth of 22% to 24%, versus 18% to 20% previously.
CEO Tarang Amin pointed to the results as evidence of durable execution, stating the company delivered its "31st consecutive quarter of net sales growth, with net sales up 51% driven by strength across our portfolio." Investors will want to monitor whether the tariff refund tailwind and rhode's earnout-driven momentum can sustain into the back half of the fiscal year, and whether SG&A costs tied to marketing, compensation, and depreciation continue to rise alongside revenue.
