Enbridge's $38 Billion Backlog Signals Durable Cash Flow Growth
As seen on the 24/7 Wall St. homepage on November 6, 2026.
Our secured growth backlog stands at $38 billion, even as we placed $3 billion of completed projects into service this quarter. We've consistently added new projects to our backlog this year, positioning us well to deliver on our $10–20 billion target for new project announcements through 2027.
Enbridge is replenishing its pipeline of work as fast as it burns through it, keeping the secured backlog flat even after $3 billion of projects started earning cash this quarter. For a $107 billion dividend payer, that refill rate is the whole story behind future cash flow growth.

CEO Greg Ebel's comments during the 2026 Q3 earnings call pointed to something pipeline investors watch closely: whether a company can replace completed work as fast as it finishes it. Enbridge did exactly that, holding its secured growth backlog at $38 billion even after $3 billion worth of projects were placed into service during the quarter.
Putting $3 billion of projects into service means those assets have moved from "under construction" to "generating cash," which is a direct positive for near-term revenue. The fact that the backlog did not shrink in response tells investors that new project commitments are arriving at roughly the same pace as older ones are being completed.

Ebel framed the backlog's stability as progress toward a specific target: $10 billion to $20 billion in new project announcements through 2027. That range gives the company room to be selective, but the floor of $10 billion also signals a minimum level of growth ambition that management is willing to be held accountable for.
For a company of Enbridge's scale, the secured backlog is the clearest forward-looking indicator of future distributable cash flow. A backlog that holds flat, rather than eroding, suggests the dividend has a credible funding runway beyond projects already in service. The 2027 announcement target is now the key milestone to track as future quarters unfold.
