Cost discipline carried the quarter: capital spending of $638 million landed 10% below the low end of guidance, driving an EPS beat even as revenue missed expectations on lower volumes. That free cash flow cushion is what shareholders are counting on as the $13 billion Range Resources combination moves ahead.

EQT reported adjusted earnings of $0.42 per diluted share for Q3 2026, beating expectations on spending restraint rather than volumes or prices. Capital expenditures of $638 million came in below the low end of the company's own guidance range.

Revenue of $1.77 billion missed expectations and slipped from a year earlier, with sales volume falling to 583 Bcfe. Deliberate strategic curtailments and softer realized gas prices drove the decline.

Free cash flow of approximately $397.6 million grew year over year, with operating cash flow also higher. Shareholders are focused on that as EQT absorbs the weight of its announced $13 billion acquisition of Range Resources, which the company says will create the largest vertically integrated natural gas producer in America.

CEO Toby Z. Rice described the Range Resources combination as creating a company that is uniquely positioned for the next era of natural gas, pairing two of the highest-quality, longest-duration asset bases in North America. EQT also signed a 10-year LNG sales agreement with Ignitis Group and launched an open season for a new POWER Pipeline connecting core Marcellus assets in Pennsylvania to the Clarington hub in Ohio.

For Q4 2026, EQT guided total sales volume of 550 to 600 Bcfe and raised its quarterly dividend by 3% to $0.17 per share. Whether free cash flow can sustain that trajectory while funding the Range Resources integration is the central question heading into year-end.
