FedEx Q3 2026: Express margin surge powers a 47% EPS beat
As seen on the 24/7 Wall St. homepage on October 28, 2026.
Express U.S. Domestic adjusted operating margin expanded to 10.3% from 6.9% in the prior quarter, with adjusted EPS of 47% above consensus beating expectations. Ignore the GAAP headline: a $4.49 billion gain on the retained 19.9% FedEx Freight stake makes it meaningless as an operating read.

Adjusted EPS of $4.98 beat the $3.38 consensus, a gap that signals Express network improvements are moving faster than Wall Street had modeled.
Express U.S. Domestic drove the beat, with adjusted operating margin expanding to 10.3% from 6.9% the prior quarter. That scale of margin expansion in a single quarter reflects a structurally improving cost base.
Revenue of $22.93 billion came in above expectations of $22.58 billion, with the mix spanning U.S. Ground, U.S. Priority Package and International Priority Package for broad domestic and global exposure.

Investors should set aside the GAAP diluted EPS figure of $25.05 from continuing operations entirely. It includes a $4.49 billion gain on the retained Freight stake and a mark-to-market retirement plan gain, neither of which reflects core parcel and express performance.
The Freight spin-off and the $1.4 billion sale of FedEx Supply Chain to CMA CGM Group simplify the portfolio considerably. The retained Freight stake will keep pushing fair-value swings through net income, so separating GAAP from adjusted results remains essential. Stranded costs, tariff volatility and Network 2.0 execution are the risks.
