Goldman Sachs posted GAAP diluted EPS of $17.01 for Q3 2026, clearing the consensus estimate of $13.65 and marking the sixth consecutive quarter of beating Wall Street's earnings expectations.
The standout driver was Equities, where revenues surged 72% year over year to $6.44 billion on strong demand for prime financing, portfolio financing, and derivatives activity.
Advisory fees reached a record $1.65 billion, up 18% year over year, reflecting a pickup in completed merger and acquisition volumes. Asset and Wealth Management added $5.05 billion in revenue.
Two one-time items shaped the GAAP EPS figure: charitable contributions to Goldman Sachs Gives reduced diluted EPS by roughly $1.00, while tax benefits tied to employee share-based awards added about $3.20 to year-to-date diluted EPS.
The firm returned $4.49 billion to common shareholders during the quarter and declared a quarterly dividend of $5.00 per common share, payable December 30. The investment banking backlog declined from the end of Q2 2026 and slightly from year-end 2025, with Advisory pipelines accounting for most of that pullback.
