The Hang Seng closed at 3,098, a slim gain that stands out because most of Asia spent the day in the red.

The index fell as much as 0.84% before recovering through the afternoon and flipping positive into the close. That reversal from session lows suggests buyers stepped in rather than markets simply drifting back.

Shanghai's SSE Composite also finished positive, so the broader Greater China complex ended on the right side of the ledger even as the wider region stayed weak. The alignment reinforced the sense that selling pressure hitting other Asian markets did not find the same footing here.

The close does not erase broader regional caution, but a session that pointed sharply negative instead delivered a quiet win for Hong Kong bulls. The next session will show whether today's buyers have follow-through conviction or simply caught an oversold bounce.
