London finished above 14,000 and set the pace in Europe, with Frankfurt tagging along and Paris stuck at a standstill. Energy-heavy UK blue chips are doing the work US investors keep overlooking.

The FTSE 100 settled at 14,047, clearing 14,000 and leading Europe higher on the day.
The DAX closed up 0.47% and the CAC 40 added just 0.03%, leaving London well in front.
The index built its gain into the close rather than fading late in the session.
London's energy and commodity weighting is why it is setting the pace over the industrials-heavy DAX and CAC 40.
