MercadoLibre's Q3 2026 revenue of $10.75 billion, a 45% year-over-year gain, edged past consensus, with Brazil and Mexico both growing faster than the company overall. Gross merchandise volume and total payment volume both expanded by double digits.

GAAP diluted EPS of $8.83 missed the $9.27 consensus, dragged down by deliberate spending on free shipping extensions, new Metro fulfillment centers, and an expanded affiliate marketing program in Brazil. That capacity carries costs well before volume fills the space, and operating income fell year over year as a result.

Narrower foreign currency losses and a lower tax rate lifted net income 6% year over year to $448 million despite the margin pressure. Cash grew sharply and the company raised a second investment-grade bond in September, while capital expenditures climbed as it builds out physical infrastructure.

The fintech side kept scaling, with the credit portfolio approaching $18 billion and Mercado Pago user growth and advertising revenue both expanding at double-digit rates. The company's AI tools are gaining traction, from its Mago fintech assistant to an ad campaign manager now active for thousands of sellers.

Management offered no numeric guidance, leaving investors without a timeline for when the investment cycle translates into margin recovery. It expects structural drivers, including lower cost per shipment, operating leverage in product development, and credit portfolio scaling, to lift reported margins gradually. The EPS history shows this is not the first recent miss against analyst expectations.
