Moderna's 7.34% drop to $188.54 is the sharpest single move at the open on September 30, making it the clear outlier among today's losers. The biotech's slide pulls the loss column well ahead of the next-worst decliners, which are clustered in a much tighter range.

On the losing side, Constellation Energy and Northrop Grumman are both off roughly 3.9%, suggesting some rotation out of both the power and defense sectors at the same time. AppLovin and Meta round out the losers, adding a digital-advertising flavor to an otherwise varied group.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise leads the gainers with a 6.27% advance to $65.35, and the names behind it (Navitas Semiconductor, Nebius Group, CoreWeave, and IonQ) are almost all tied to AI infrastructure or the compute stack that supports it.

Investors are selling a high-profile biotech and trimming defense and power, while simultaneously bidding up semiconductors, cloud compute, and quantum computing names. That selective rotation, concentrated in AI-adjacent hardware and infrastructure, is the dominant theme at the open.
