The S&P 500 is up 80.75 points to 7,397.15 at midday, building on a previous close of 7,316.40. The index has held comfortably in positive territory throughout the session, with its intraday gain peaking near 1.4% before settling back around the 1.1% mark heading into the afternoon.
Tech is doing the heavy lifting. The Nasdaq Composite is up nearly 2% on the day, well ahead of the broader market's advance. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is also in the green but is lagging meaningfully, up about 0.6% — a divergence that points to technology-sector strength rather than a broad-based rally lifting all corners of the market.
