Friday's close left nearly 20 percentage points between the session's biggest gainer and its biggest loser, a spread driven by stock-specific forces rather than broad market direction.
Workday led the gainers with a 6.38% advance, followed by DraftKings, Spotify, Amazon and Expedia.

The losing side ran steeper, with Iren, Rubrik and Marathon Digital each shedding more than 10% and Hims and Hers and Tempus AI each falling more than 9%.
