Netflix shares touched $67.06 on October 2, a new 52-week low just beneath the prior floor set on July 20. The stock has shed roughly half its value from the level it traded at a year ago.
The descent has not been a single sharp break: shares slid from the mid-$120s early in the period, briefly stabilized during the spring, then resumed their move lower through the summer and into autumn. Each attempted recovery faded before it could establish meaningful footing.
With the prior 52-week low now breached, there is no established support level on the one-year chart for investors to reference. That matters practically because technical traders often anchor buy and sell decisions to recent price floors. When those floors give way, the next reference point has to come from an older part of the price history.
Netflix carries a market capitalization of $279.2 billion, so even at this depressed price the company remains one of the larger names in the consumer-discretionary and media landscape. That size means institutional holders face meaningful portfolio pressure as the stock sets fresh lows, which generates additional selling as funds rebalance.
