NorthEast Community Bancorp Q3 2026: Revenue Surges but EPS Misses on Fraud and Unrealized Losses
As seen on the 24/7 Wall St. homepage on October 23, 2026.
Earnings came in below the $0.89 consensus, missing expectations on a $1.1 million unrealized loss on equity securities and fraud-related charge-offs, even as revenue ran past estimates. Non-performing assets climbing to $17.4 million from zero at year-end is the line to keep an eye on.

NorthEast Community Bancorp posted Q3 2026 diluted EPS of $0.79, missing expectations. Two one-time items drove the shortfall: an unrealized loss on equity securities tied to market interest rate volatility, and charge-offs stemming from increased customer fraud involving checks and debit cards.
Revenue of $38.49 million surpassed the consensus estimate, though it edged down year over year. One-time charges can obscure an otherwise functioning lending business.
The more forward-looking concern is asset quality. Non-performing assets climbed to $17.4 million, representing 0.79% of total assets, compared to zero at year-end 2025. That move from nothing to a measurable figure in fewer than three quarters is the metric investors will be scrutinizing most closely as the company heads into Q4.
The construction lending engine still looks healthy. CEO Kenneth A. Martinek noted that construction loan commitments and loans-in-process grew approximately 18.2% year over year, with unfunded commitments and nine-month loan originations both rising, concentrated in the Bronx, Rockland, Orange, and Sullivan County submarkets.
Net interest margin contracted 29 basis points year over year to 5.09%, a consequence of cumulative Fed rate cuts in late 2025. A Fed Funds rate increase in September 2026 supports yields on variable-rate construction and commercial loans going into the next quarter, while deposits grew as management shifted funding away from short-term borrowings.
