Solana's 5.77% drop on October 8 erased much of the momentum that had been building since the token bottomed out in the low $70s earlier in the year. Buyers who drove the recovery are stepping back, at least for the moment.
The prior close of $116.25 is now the immediate line in the sand. Until Solana reclaims that level, the trend that carried it up from the low $70s is effectively on pause.
Solana had climbed from a trough around $62 before a sustained run past $120, so the retreat to the $109 range gives back a meaningful share of those gains without unwinding the recovery.
Traders who bought into the rally in the $80s and $90s are still sitting on gains, which leaves room for profit-taking pressure to continue before fresh buyers step in.
