The Nasdaq's 1.06% gain nearly tripled the Dow's 0.36%, a split that punished portfolios leaning toward value or dividend names.

That divergence widened from the opening bell, with the Dow spending the first half of the session in negative territory before turning positive around midday.

When tech leads by that kind of margin, the index-level headline understates the actual dispersion. An investor with a market-weight allocation to growth captured a very different day than one sitting in industrials or financials, even though both technically finished in the green.

The close at 7,787.91 is a meaningful step off the prior close, and momentum into the final minutes remained firmly positive. Whether that breadth holds tomorrow is the key question heading into the next session.
