Bruker sees US academic demand return in Q3, targets double-digit EPS growth in FY27

As seen on the 24/7 Wall St. homepage on November 4, 2026.

We see strengthening demand in most of our end markets, and in Q3 also in the US academic market. With BSI organic bookings and backlog both up mid-single digits % year-to-date, we expect revenue growth acceleration, continued margin expansion and double-digit EPS growth in FY27.

The US academic market, the biggest overhang on lab tool makers all year, turned in the quarter, and Laukien is now underwriting double-digit EPS growth for FY27 off it. At an $8.6 billion market cap, that guidance is the whole thesis for Bruker.

The US academic market had been the most stubborn drag on scientific instrument makers through much of the year, so its reappearance in Bruker's Q3 bookings is a meaningful turning point. CEO Frank Laukien called out strengthening demand across most end markets, with the US academic segment specifically joining the recovery in the third quarter.

BSI organic bookings and backlog are both up mid-single digits percent year-to-date, giving Laukien the foundation to guide for revenue growth acceleration, continued margin expansion, and double-digit EPS growth in FY27. That combination of top-line, margin, and earnings growth in the same outlook is not a common occurrence.

Bookings and backlog lead revenue, which means the mid-single-digit gains already on the books are what underwrite the FY27 growth call. If US academic spending holds or accelerates from here, the guidance has a credible runway behind it.

Bruker carries an $8.6 billion market cap, so the credibility of that FY27 earnings growth trajectory is effectively the entire valuation argument. Any further confirmation that the academic end market is sustainably recovering would reinforce the thesis; any reversal there is the principal risk to watch.
