United Rentals reported adjusted earnings per share of $15.55 for its third quarter of 2026, beating the consensus estimate and topping expectations on revenue and year-over-year growth as well.
Specialty rentals led the quarter with revenue climbing 34.7%, while the larger general rentals segment grew more modestly and adjusted EBITDA reached a quarterly record on efficiencies in depreciation, labor, repairs and maintenance, and delivery costs.
Management raised full-year 2026 revenue guidance to a range of $18.0 billion to $18.2 billion and lifted adjusted EBITDA guidance as well. CEO Matthew Flannery cited customer backlogs and momentum across large projects as the foundation for the higher outlook.
The company announced a new $5.0 billion share repurchase program after completing its prior program, having already repurchased a portion year to date and expecting more buybacks in 2026. A quarterly dividend of $1.97 per share was declared alongside the results, payable November 25 to shareholders of record as of November 11.
This quarter's 10.85% outperformance extends a turn that began after United Rentals missed estimates in both Q3 and Q4 of 2025 and then beat in Q1 and Q2 of 2026. Rising fleet productivity and a growing average original equipment cost point to continued investment in the rental fleet as a structural support for the business.
