Clark Howard warns brokerages are now letting AI execute trades automatically, but investors should keep decision-making in human hands.

AI can be a powerful investing tool—but Clark says there's a line you shouldn't cross. Some brokerages now let AI automatically buy and sell investments on your behalf. Clark's advice? Don't put your portfolio on autopilot. AI can help you research investments, compare options, https://t.co/q8tgTK0vRc

Some brokerages now offer features that allow AI to automatically buy and sell investments on a customer's behalf, cutting humans out of the loop entirely. Consumer expert Clark Howard is drawing a clear line here: handing full trading control to an AI is a step investors should not take, no matter how sophisticated the technology appears.

Howard's position is not that AI has no place in personal finance. He acknowledges it can be a useful tool for researching investments and comparing options. The concern is specifically with autonomous execution — letting an algorithm pull the trigger on trades without a human making the final call.

The distinction matters because research assistance and autonomous decision-making carry very different levels of risk. Using AI to inform a choice you make yourself keeps you accountable for your portfolio; delegating the actual buy and sell orders removes that check entirely.
