Did LYV Beat Earnings? Q2 2025 Results
Live Nation Entertainment posted a tale of two metrics in Q2 2025, with robust top-line growth obscured by a sharp earnings miss that left investors parsing the details. Revenue climbed 16.3% year-over-year to $7.01 billion, edging past the $6.89 billion consensus estimate by 1.64%, as global attendance surged 14% to 44 million fans and the Concerts segment delivered its highest-ever Q2 revenue of $5.95 billion. Yet diluted EPS of $0.41 fell well short of the $1.02 consensus, a miss of 59.80%, driven primarily by a $147.80 million accretion charge tied to redeemable noncontrolling interests, part of a broader $185.00 million cumulative headwind from accretion, taxes, and foreign exchange. The OCESA transaction, expected to close in August and bring Live Nation's ownership to 75%, will trigger roughly $250.00 million in additional accretion in Q3 before easing to $35.00 million in Q4. Against a backdrop of positive earnings momentum across markets, management reiterated expectations for double-digit full-year growth in both operating income and adjusted operating income, which rose 11% to $798.40 million in the quarter.
- Global fan attendance up 14% to 44 million, with stadium attendance tripling year-over-year
- International fan count up 30%, driven by Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America
- Ticketmaster GTV increased 7% to $9 billion
- Strong ticket sales at every price point from premium to budget-friendly seats
- Continued growth in onsite spending across all venue types, with amphitheater concession spending up double-digits
- Over 130 million tickets sold for Live Nation concerts year-to-date, up 6%
- International arena fan count up 20%
“Global expansion continues to drive touring growth, with fan attendance hitting new highs and ticket buying strong at every price point from VIP to the back row. To meet this momentum, we're expanding our global venue portfolio and investing in the artists who make it all possible. We're continuing to deliver record revenue and concert ticket sales, and with investment focused on high-growth markets and fan experiences, we're positioned to grow operating income and AOI by double-digits this year and for years to come.”
