MidCap Financial Investment Corporation (NASDAQ: MFIC) is a closed-end, externally managed, diversified management investment company operating as a business development company (BDC) under the Investment Company Act of 1940. The company is externally managed by Apollo Investment Management, L.P., an affiliate of Apollo Global Management. MFIC's investment objective is to generate current income and, to a lesser extent, long-term capital appreciation. The company primarily invests in directly originated and privately negotiated first lien senior secured loans to privately held U.S. middle-market companies, generally defined as companies with less than $75 million in EBITDA. The portfolio is nearly 100% floating rate and approximately 94% first lien secured debt. MFIC may also invest in unitranche, second lien, unsecured, subordinated, and mezzanine loans, as well as equities in both private and public middle-market companies. As of June 30, 2026, the company held investments in 229 portfolio companies with a total investment portfolio at fair value of approximately $2.77 billion and total assets of approximately $2.86 billion.
