comScore (NASDAQ: SCOR) has released the holiday sales data, showing how online retail yet again grew at a fast pace then traditional brick-and-mortar retail outfits.

The holiday season retail e-commerce spending report for the first 56 days of the November to December 2011 holiday season was $35.3 billion in online spending.  If you do a year over year analysis that is a gain of some 15% in 2011 over 2010.  The most recent week, which is counted as ending December 25 and is the last-minute shoppers, saw a 16% rise in 2011 over 2010 to $2.8 billion. Other key metrics:

  • Cyber-Monday rose 22% to $1.251 billion
  • Black Friday rose 26% to $816 million
  • Thanksgiving Day rose by 18% to $479 million

The total data is based upon retail goods purchased and does not include travel related spending.  This also excludes auctions and excludes large corporate purchases which are obviously not a part of the holidays.
