Italy Borrowing Costs Down By Half

The Bank of Italy paid about half the interest rate on six month notes that it did just last month-a sign that concerns about sovereign debt in the region have ebbed.

The average yield on its 9 billion euros ($11.8 billion) six-month bill offering was 3.25%, down from the 6.50% rate it had to pay at an equivalent auction last month.
