The AAA Fuel Gauge reports that gasoline prices are moving higher again after several months of falling. It may be the oil prices are the cause.
The price of $3.352 is substantially higher than it was a year ago at $3.079.
There are concerns that an interruption of oil tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz brought on by the Iranian navy will push oil to $150 and gas back over $4. Such a sharp increase would threaten any recovery in consumer spending in the US and threaten what is already a tepid recovery.
Gas prices are still well below were they were early in the summer, when they moved toward $4.
