Since the conclusion of the previous economic contraction through year-end 2011, companies with financial sponsor backing filed 337 bankruptcy petitions, compared with 421 filings in the preceding 30-month period from the start of 2007 through June 2009. Therefore, sponsor-backed company filings have dropped 20% since the end of the recession, compared with the previous period.
