August 22, 2014: Among the nearly 30 stocks making new 52-week lows today were the following four firms:

Coupons.com Inc. (NYSE: COUP) may have bounced off a bottom today. Shares fell about 3.8% to a new 52-week low of $11.78 compared with the stock’s 52-week high is $33.00. Volume is about double the daily average of around 385,000 shares traded. Late on Friday afternoon the shares are up 4% at $12.73.

Transocean Ltd. (NYSE: RIG) dropped about 2.6% on Friday to post a new 52-week low of $37.67. Volume is about equal to the daily average of around 5 million shares. The company reported fleet status this morning and downtime has increased. Hero Offshore had a bigger drop yesterday when its fleet status report showed a declining backlog. Transocean’s 52-week high is $55.74.

Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc. (NYSE: DO) dropped nearly 2% on Friday to post a new 52-week low of $43/16. The offshore driller reported was very likely pulled down by Transocean’s weak report on fleet status. Share volume is about half the daily average of around 1.4 million. The stock’s 52-week high is $66.34.

UTi Worldwide Inc. (NASDAQ: UTIW) dropped about 5.3% to hit a new 52-week low of $9.00 today. The logistics company warned on a possible debt default in late February and the share price tumbled by a third. UTi has never really recovered from that. The stock’s 52-week high is $17.70. Trading volume today is nearly 3-times the daily average of around 1.3 million shares.
