United States Steel Corp. (NYSE: X) posted a new 52-week low on Wednesday. Shares dropped about 1.8% to a low of $16.32 from Tuesday’s closing price of $13.54. The stock’s 52-week high is $46.55. Volume was about 20% below the daily average of around 10.5 million. The company had no specific news today.

Newpark Resources Inc. (NYSE: NR) dropped nearly 21% on Wednesday to post a new 52-week low at $4.89 after closing at $6.18 on Tuesday. The stock’s 52-week high is $13.00. Share volume was more than 3 times the daily average of around 1.3 million. The oilfield services company said last night that third quarter revenues will be pressured.

Xenoport Inc. (NASDAQ: XNPT) dropped about 8.5% on Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $4.43 against a 52-week high of $9.60. The stock closed at $4.84 on Tuesday night. Volume is nearly 4 times the daily average of around 780,000 shares traded. The company reported Tuesday morning that a Phase 2 study showed that its psoriasis drug had some troubling side effects, and the stock price has not stopped falling since.

Columbia Pipeline Group Inc. (NYSE: CPGX) dropped less than 1% on Wednesday to set a new 52-week low of $22.91 after closing at $23.04 on Tuesday. The stock’s 52-week high is $33.00. Share volume was about equal to the daily average of around 2.2 million. The natural gas pipeline company had no specific news today.
