The 52-Week Low Club for Monday

February 22, 2016: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 27 equities making new 52-week lows today.

Chimerix Inc. (NASDAQ: CMRX) dropped by about 39% on Monday to post a new 52-week low at $4.67 after closing at $7.63 on Friday. The stock’s 52-week high is $58.04. Share volume totaled around 5 times the daily average of about 3.1million shares traded. The company reported this morning that one of its late stage clinical trials failed to meet its primary endpoint.

Dynegy Inc. (NYSE: DYN) posted a new 52-week low on Monday. Shares traded at a low of $7.33, down about 6.1%, after closing at $7.81 on Friday. The stock’s 52-week high is $34.69. Volume totaled about 35% more than the daily average of around 21 million shares. The utility had no specific news today, but is set to report fourth-quarter results on Wednesday.

Impax Laboratories Inc. (NASDAQ: IPXL) fell by more than 13% on Monday to post a new 52-week low of $29.66 against a high of $52.10. The stock closed at $33.97 on Friday night. Volume rose to about 3.7 million, roughly 6 times the daily average of about 650,000 shares traded. The stock plunged this morning even though Impax beat estimates. Shares recovered later in the day, but still look to close down around 3%.

Perrigo Company plc (NYSE: PRGO) dropped about 5.2% on Monday to post a new 52-week low of $129.34 against a 52-week high of $215.73. The stock closed at $129.34 on Friday night. Volume was about 65% above the stock’s daily average volume of around 1.7 million. Goldman Sachs cut the shares to Sell this morning.
