Sibanye Gold, Iconix Drop into Tuesday's 52-Week Low Club

April 17, 2018: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 41 equities making new 52-week lows in Tuesday’s session. On the NYSE advancers led decliners by about 11 to 4 and on the Nasdaq, advancers led decliners by about 5 to 2.

Sibanye Gold Ltd. (NYSE: SBGL) traded down about 4.5% Tuesday to post a new 52-week low of $3.37 after closing Monday at $3.53. The stock’s 52-week high is $10.60. Volume was about 20% below the daily average of around 3.7 million shares. The company had no specific news.

BRF SA (NYSE: BRFS) fell by about 4% Tuesday to post a new 52-week low of $5.95 after closing at $6.20 on Monday. The 52-week high is $15.50. Volume of about 3.5 million was about 10% higher than the daily average. The Brazil-based food processor is likely to lose its ability to export chicken to the European Union and talks to replace the company’s board have stalled.

Iconix Brand Group Inc. (NASDAQ: ICON) traded down about 11% Tuesday and posted a new 52-week low of $0.86 after closing Monday at $0.97. The stock’s 52-week high is $8.30. Volume totaled around 2.2 million, about equal to the daily average. The company had no specific news.

Apricus Biosciences Inc. (NASDAQ: APRI) dropped about 3.8% Tuesday to match a 52-week low of $0.26 posted Monday. Shares closed at $0.27 on Monday and the stock’s 52-week high is $3.34. Volume was more than three times the daily average of around 1.4 million shares. The company said Monday it is considering its options after the U.S. FDA directed the firm to develop a new formulation for its erectile dysfunction drug, Vitaros.
