Ambev, PPL Corp. Slide into Wednesday's 52-Week Low Club

June 6, 2018: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 60 equities making new 52-week lows in Wednesday’s session. On the NYSE advancers led decliners by about 1.66 to 1 and on the Nasdaq, advancers led decliners by about 1.79to 1.

Helios and Matheson Analytics Inc. (NASDAQ: HMNY) traded down about 15.4% Wednesday and posted a new 52-week low of $0.33 after closing Tuesday at $0.39. The stock’s 52-week high is $38.86. Volume totaled over 28 million, more than double the daily average of around 12.7 million. The company that owns MoviePass had no specific news Wednesday.

Ambev SA (NYSE: ABEV) fell about 25% Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $5.05 after closing at $5.17 on Tuesday. The 52-week high is $7.43. Volume of about 18 million was about 15% below the daily average of about 23 million. The marine fuel logistics firm said last night that it may have to write off $200 million in accounts receivable that may have been, “in full or in part, without economic substance and improperly accounted for.” Ick.

Banco Bradesco SA (NYSE: BBD) traded down about 9.7% Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $7.30 after closing Tuesday at $8.08. The stock’s 52-week high is $13.18. Volume was more about 30% higher than the daily average of around 9.6 million shares. The Brazilian bank had no specific news.

PPL Corp. (NYSE: PPL) dropped about 4.3% Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $25.73. Shares closed at $26.88 on Tuesday and the stock’s 52-week high is $39.90. The company goes ex-dividend tomorrow.
