Rocket Lab (NASDAQ: RKLB | RKLB Price Prediction) has been volatile this year. After a sharp July drawdown, our model sees a buying opportunity. Our 24/7 Wall St. price target for Rocket Lab is $124.43, implying 92.38% upside from the current price of $64.68.
We rate the shares a buy with moderate confidence, driven by a Space Force contract cascade, Neutron progress, and a record backlog.

A Brutal July Reset After a $151 Peak
Shares are down 36.37% over the past month and 7.59% over the past week, though the stock shows a 39.28% gain over the last year and sits well above its $37.57 52-week low. The pullback from the $151 52-week high reflects sector rotation after SpaceX’s June listing and dilution concerns tied to the pending $8 billion Iridium acquisition.
Fundamentals tell a different story. Q1 FY2026 revenue hit $200.35 million, up 63.5% year over year, with an EPS loss of -$0.07 beating the -$0.0787 consensus. Backlog swelled to $2.2 billion, and on July 21, Rocket Lab landed a $266 million Space Force suborbital launch contract, its largest defense award.
Three Catalysts Driving Higher
Bulls cite three drivers. First, Neutron: Rocket Lab completed a full-duration burn test of the second-stage AVac engine in mid-July, keeping the medium-lift reusable rocket on track for a later 2026 debut.
Second, defense wins: Rocket Lab was selected for the Golden Dome Space Based Interceptor program with Raytheon, holds the $816 million SDA Tracking Layer Tranche 3 contract, and now adds the $266 million Space Force award.
Third, Pentagon spending: FY2027 Space Force procurement includes 9 Space Development Agency launches as part of a $59.7 billion space-based systems budget.
Citizens reaffirmed a Market Outperform rating with a $130 target. Stifel’s Erik Rasmussen maintained a Buy at $132. Our bull case scenario points to $158.75 over the next 12 months if Neutron flies successfully and Iridium closes on schedule.
Where the Rally Could Stall
The bear case starts with cash burn. FY2025 free cash flow was -$321.8 million, and Q1 alone saw $450 million raised through an ATM offering. Piper Sandler initiated at Neutral with an $83 target citing premium valuation, with the stock trading at a price-to-sales ratio of 54.
Bulls counter that heavy capex reflects Neutron infrastructure and integration of the Mynaric, Motiv, and Geost acquisitions, broadening the addressable market. If Neutron slips or Iridium financing hits snags, our bear case target is $97.24.
Valuation Against Peers
AST SpaceMobile (NASDAQ: ASTS) is the direct-to-device satellite counterpart. Q1 2026 revenue was just $14.73 million against a $36.58 million consensus and a market cap near $16 billion. Rocket Lab generates more than 13x ASTS’s quarterly revenue at roughly 2x the market cap, making the $124 target reasonable.
Intuitive Machines (NASDAQ: LUNR) is the closest defense-and-services comp. LUNR posted Q1 2026 revenue of $186.73 million at a $2.56 billion market cap. That’s a fraction of Rocket Lab’s multiple, but LUNR lacks a launch platform and Neutron optionality. Against these peers, our target looks fair.
| Company | Q1 2026 Revenue | Market Cap |
|---|---|---|
| Rocket Lab | $200.35M | $36.61B |
| AST SpaceMobile | $14.73M | $16.0B |
| Intuitive Machines | $186.73M | $2.56B |
Rocket Lab Price Projection 2026-2030
Our 24/7 Wall St. price target of $124.43 stands with a buy rating and 50% confidence. The key factor is a record $2.2 billion backlog colliding with a July drawdown that has erased the froth.
The setup rewards investors comfortable with the 2.55 beta who want Neutron optionality. The thesis weakens if another Neutron delay materializes or if the Iridium deal breaks.
Assuming Neutron enters commercial service and defense contract flow continues at current pace:
| Year | 24/7 Wall St. Price Target |
|---|---|
| 2026 | $85.51 |
| 2027 | $124.43 |
| 2028 | $177.79 |
| 2029 | $254.02 |
| 2030 | $362.94 |
These projections assume Rocket Lab executes on Neutron cadence, closes Iridium without dilutive surprises, and captures share of the expanding Space Force launch budget. A failed Neutron debut or SDA contract loss would materially compress this trajectory.
